Business Intelligence Developer

About Role

The purpose of the role is to develop, maintain, support and optimise the Business Intelligence solutions for both projects and BAU. You will work closely with the users and super users in the various business functions globally to understand their requirements and issues. The Business Intelligence Developer will also analyse and resolve Business Intelligence application issues.

 

Key Areas of Accountabilities: 

Accountability 1: Business Intelligence Development 

  • Develop and Unit Test BI solutions using OBIEE, Informatica and other BI tools 
  • Partner with the team along with Project Managers and System Analysts to produce high quality deliverables in a timely manner 
  • Analyse, understand and effectively communicate deep technical material to Business Users 
  • Comply with global development requirements and create technical documentation 

 

Accountability 2: Testing, Documentation, Implementation and Support 

  • Provide BI BAU support via Cochlear Service Desk System 
  • Take ownership of problems in the business area of responsibility and ensure formal closure of the problem record 
  • Follow standard Cochlear Service Desk process 
  • Improve efficiency of calls resolution times and other Cochlear Service Desk KPIs 
  • Ensure deliverables meet the quality standard 
  • Create technical documentation for all stages of development 
  • Unit Testing of all components of the application 
  • Troubleshoot system problems 

 

Accountability 3: BI Data Management

  • Audit, uncover and report on data integrity issues
  • Work with the BI and the wider IT teams on investigating and resolving data issues
  • Improve data quality by fostering a data aware culture and improving processes and governance

 

Team Role (Individual contributor):

  • Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement. Undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g. audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities.
  • Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables.
  • Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager. 

 

Key Incumbent requirements:

Minimum:

  • At least 2 years relevant experience in OBIEE 12c/11g and/or Informatica Power Center 9.x
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Datawarehouse concepts and design methodology
  • Good communication skills with the confidence and ability to interact with users at all levels
  • Demonstrated project discipline and experience. Organised, focused and driven toward established deliverable dates.
  • Good understanding of data structures, data modeling and database schema
  • Keen attention to detail and complex problem solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Datawarehouse concepts and design methodology
  • Strong knowledge of SQL or PL/SQL
  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent

 

Ideal:

  • Knowledge and experience in Oracle BI Apps 7.9.6.*, Tableau 9.x, SAP Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP Applications
  • Oracle 11i/12 database experience
  • Ability to work independently
