Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) is the leading international tobacco company, with seven of the world’s top 15 brands, including the number one cigarette brand worldwide. PMI’s products are sold in approximately 160 countries. In 2009, the company held an estimated 15.4% share of the total international cigarette market outside of the U.S., or 26.0% excluding the People’s Republic of China and the U.S.

Asia is one of PMI’s strongest growth regions and the company is well positioned for continued growth. Our performance in the region is supported by the best selling and only truly global cigarette brand, as well as a number of local heritage offerings in select markets. PMI’s total cigarette shipment volume in Asia in 2009 represented approximately 26% of PMI’s total worldwide cigarette volume. Net revenues, excluding excise taxes, in 2009 amounted to US $6.5 billion and an Operating Companies Income (OCI) of US $2.4 billion represented approximately 24% of PMI’s worldwide total for the same period.
