To begin with, you need a CV that you can be proud of. There are hundreds of free online resources that can help you. Just remember that it is your key tool to sell yourself and so you must be as brief and to the point as possible.

Interview technique

Getting an interview can often be a huge achievement in itself. Once you are in front of the interviewer(s) you need to impress with succinct and relevant answers. Check out our last blog post on some of the tougher questions here.

It should go without saying, but remember, the interviewer’s mind will usually be made up within the first 30 seconds of meeting you, so first impressions count! It is far better to be over-dressed than too casual. Be confident and polite, and don’t forget to ask for a business card to follow up with them after the interview is over.

The most important point is self-motivation. The right job is out there for you, but only you can find it. In the words of Steve Jobs, ‘If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.’
