The good news is starting to come in to us at Careers in Asia following the Recruitment Summit! We just heard that a candidate, originally from Malaysia, was offered a position with PETRONAS five days after having an interview with them at the Summit. Many congratulations to him!

How did you find out about Careers in Asia? Through friends and the internet.

What happened at the Summit? I met and got to know a few friends from across the Asian region, and was also able to get a clearer view on the participating companies by attending the presentations.

What happened after the Summit? I was given a conditional job offer by PETRONAS 5 days after my interview.

What would you say to anyone thinking of applying to Careers in Asia? It is a must for them!

Thank you to everyone who attended our 7th Annual Recruitment Summit at the weekend! The event, sponsored by Maybank and Petronas, was a huge success. Out of more than 4,000 people that applied, 600 were invited to interview with and network amongst the hiring managers and staffing specialists from Caterpillar, Contact Singapore, Henkel, JTI, Maybank, MSD Pharmaceutical, Petronas and Schlumberger Business Consulting.

More than 200 interviews took place over the course of the event. We look forward to hearing from our candidates about how they got on and any job offers that they are made by the companies following the event!

The companies were very impressed with the high calibre of all the candidates that they saw. International Recruitment Consultant Ritina Yang commented: 'This Summit differed slightly from last year's event, with more companies from FMCG industries participating.'

How have you found your time in the UK?

The UK is a vibrant country and there are many ways to enjoy it. I love going to parties and meeting new friends from different countries. Also I enjoy a pint in the pub, watching football, or going to the park to enjoy the sunshine.

As part of our Autumn attraction campaign, the Careers in Asia Team has been on the road! We’re visiting the traditional universities and business schools, but we have also been stopping by places you might not expect to see us!

This week has seen the team visit the Taiwanese Food Fêtein Royal Oak, London. This incredible event saw a whole host of Taiwanese delicacies such as bubble tea, Douhua (sweet or salty tofu pudding), beef noodles and tea soaked eggs! We had our very own stall there, and although we weren’t selling tasty treats, we did have our team giving our Careers advice and encouraging people to apply for the Careers in Asia Recruitment Summit next February.
